Annual General Meeting 2015 The Wiarton and District Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting on April 15th at the Wiarton Curling Club. There was a strong turn out from the business community and all who attended enjoyed a great evening. Larry Miller and Janice Jackson both gave encouraging words about Wiarton’s recent business changes and expected economic growth. The Chamber of Commerce sub-committees of Wiarton Revitalization, Canada Day, and the Willie Festival each provided updates. This was followed by a great meal catered by Andy Mackey of CaterPro. Tony Solecki of Caframo Ltd. was the guest speaker and gave an interesting presentation on the company, the products it manufactures and plans for the future. He also provided businesses with an account of how the website www.livegreybruce.ca serves our area by fulfilling a need for employers and skilled professionals to connect. Robbie Robinson from Bayshore Broadcasting was the MC of the event and did an excellent job of keeping the evening lively with his commentary on doing business in Wiarton. He also kept up with the numerous draws of door prizes that were generously donated by the business community. Robbie provided all with an important point about the impending “Big Dig” in downtown Wiarton – all businesses need to start now to get their back doors cleaned up. Everyone needs to be ready for customers to access their business through a rear entrance. The evening ended with the acclamation of the current Board of Directors for the year 2015-16. Moving the Chamber forward for the next year are Paul Deacon (President), Paul Sutter (Vice-President), Sue Given (Treasurer), Koreen Ryan (Director), Cindy Masterson-Roth (Director), and Brandee Ceasar MacDonald (Director). The mood of the evening was one of excitement over Wiarton’s growth and potential for the future. Closing remarks from President Paul Deacon echoed this. He reflected on Wiarton being on the verge of coming into its own as both a Basecamp to the Peninsula and as a community offering a great place to live, work and do business.

Twinkle lights, balloons, updates on exciting happenings around town, prizes, great food and drink, and a riveting guest speaker. Why not consider this venue for YOUR next event? Thank you for a great curling season. Friday March 27/15 was our last day of curling and our Wing and Pasta night was a huge success. Thank you Judy & Bill Nafziger for all your hard work. Special thank you to our Chicken Wing Cookers.
Many people ask me for my pasta recipe and here it is.

Fettuccine with Peas and Mushrooms

1 lb of Fettuccine ( can use any pasta)
1 Table spoon of oil
1/2 cup of fresh chopped parsley (you can us dried as well)
3/4 cup Freshly grated Parmesan

Sauce
1/2 lb mushrooms
3/4 cup butter
1 cup of whipping cream
1 1/2 cup of frozen peas
Melt 1/4 c of butter in a large skillet add sliced mushrooms saute over moderate heat and add peas. Heat thoroughly. Add cream and remaining butter(cut into small cubes). Reduce heat to low and heat until thick.
Cook noodles in salt water and oil. drain well. Place noodles in large bowl, add Parmesan cheese and parsley. Toss lightly, add sauce with salt and pepper. Lightly toss and serve immediately. Serve with Freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy.
